Escaping from big cities, in search of nature and relax
Imagine entering a narrow valley accompanied by the quiet trickle of a stream, then looking up, impressed by the grandeur of Moiazza and Torre Trieste in front of you. These incredible mountains are a favorite destination for climbers, who find heaven in this magical valley.
Starting from Capanna Trieste, take the easy mule track that goes into the woods. Without speaking, to keep our breaths steady and be able to climb effortlessly, we just listen to the sounds of the forest, the wind in the trees and the birds chirping.
After this regenerating initial stretch, the view opens up before us and we immediately see some incredible rocky peaks.
We cross the Corpassa river thanks to a metal bridge and begin to walk along the mule track that winds up among the mugo pines.
Mugo pine is a precious plant, whose cones are harvested in the summer to produce a special cure for all winter ills, they are also used to make the famous grappa, which you can taste at the Vazzoler refuge or the Capanna Trieste refuge.
Suddenly the climb becomes lighter and we enter the “Pian de le Taie”, where we can cool our feet in the river.
Shortly after passing a wooded section, the Vazzoler refuge appears with its characteristic red roof.
After a snack to recover from the climb, we decide to visit the Antonio Segni Botanical Garden at the shelter, to closely explore Dolomite flora.
For the descent, we retrace our steps, but despite the path being identical, the view totally changes and the landscape opens up and makes us wander up to Taibon Agordino and the Valley of San Lucano … perhaps our next destination?
